Room 19 have been busy creating some art. We used dye to create a sunset and then practised our ruler skills as we drew the setting sun. We filled the sun's rays with patterns and designs, and then chose a favourite animal to cut out as a silhouette.

This week in Room 19 we're thinking about and talking about how to solve problems, how to spread kindness, and how it's awesome that people are different. We watched a story on YouTube called "Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon". This story showed us that having confidence in ourselves helps us to be resilient and not let other people get us down or make us feel bad about ourselves. It also shows us that we can change and make better choices - it's never too late to do the right thing. Often, we are focused on finding and searching for answers. Today in Room 19, we flipped the tables and focused on the questions. Mrs T gave us a couple of numbers, and our job was to suggest what the questions could possibly be. If the answer is 27, the question could be:
What other questions can you think of? Tell us in the comments.
Every Thursday, just before lunch, Room 12 and Room 6 get together for some buddy time. Often we read together and sometimes we do activities together. Room 6 have some of our youngest and newest school members so we make sure to help them with their learning. We show care, kindness and patience. We know our buddies quite well now and we always make sure to be a friendly face in the playground. We look out for them and always give them a wave when we walk by!
Room 19 have been exploring number patterns as part of our whole class maths warm up. Mrs T writes up 4 numbers on the whiteboard to get our thinking started. We have quiet thinking time first, and use our fingers to track the observations we make. After some quiet thinking time, we start sharing our observations and noticing patterns. We begin to extend the pattern and then begin making predictions about how the pattern might continue. We use our observations to predict numbers that we think will appear further along in the number pattern. You'll see in the photo above that:
Do you notice anything else? We played lots of old fashion games on the field. Can you figure out what games we were playing? We gave you a sneaky peak a few posts ago, and now we're proud to show you our finished self portraits! What do you think? This week at Birkenhead Primary School we are celebrating our Centenary - our school is 100 years old! On Wednesday we had an old-fashioned day with games and activities on the field and some Ag Day competitions. The competition categories were: Sand Saucers, Potted Gumboots, Baking, and Arts & Crafts. Some of the games we played on the field were: - Blind Man's Bluff - Leap Frog - Cat's Cradle - Sack Races - Three-Legged Races - Egg and Spoon Races |
