Today some actors from the Auckland Theatre Company group called Myth Makers came to school and put a show on for Whanake Team. We LOVED it! It was funny, sad, happy, and completely entertaining. It told the story of Icarus, who was too boastful and proud to learn from his mistakes. Ask us to tell you about our favourite part. PS - one of the actors is an ex-BPS pupil!

We started Wednesday with scroggin' making! We decorated our paper bags, added our ingredients, and checked our bags were packed up before heading out to the Village Green. There, we scrubbed our shoes to make sure they were free from any dirt and headed out through Highbury to the bush track. We walked through Le Roys Bush down to Little Shoal Bay. We sprayed our shoes and scrubbed them (we don't want to spread Kauri Dieback!) and enjoyed listening to the birdsong and the sound of the little stream and waterfalls. When we got down to Little Shoal Bay we had lunch, played a few games, and then packed up to head back through the bush to school. Today was awesome! The sun was shining. It was warm. We were outside. Yay for EOTC Week. Today we did a rotation at school - each Whanake teacher had a different team building activity for us to do. You can see some photos below of us at the blindfolded obstacle course. Ask us to tell you which was our favourite activity! Tomorrow we are heading on a bush walk through Le Roys Bush to Little Shoal Bay. On Thursday we practised what to do in an earthquake as part of the nationwide earthquake drill, 'Shakeout'.
Did you practise where you were? Ask us what to do if you're not sure - we're experts now. You will love our latest writing display....can you say "SNOT GOBLINS"!? We were inspired by a book Mrs Anderson read us. We wrote descriptions of our goblins, painted them, made a habitat and put it all on the wall. Pop in and check it out for yourself! We LOVED performing at our school Dance showcase, 'BPS Bites', at the end of last term. You can watch the whole show below, or you can skip ahead to about the 31 minute mark to see Room 12 perform to "Perm" by Bruno Mars. We think we rocked the stage! We wrote 3 short descriptions of holiday activities this week. The tricky part though, was that 2 of the descriptions weren't true! We had only actually done 1 of the activities these holidays.
Can you guess which one is the truth? You can see all our writing here. See if you can identify how we made our descriptions interesting for you, our readers. Look out for:
Our last day of term was a fundraiser for Cure Kids. We wore red and donated gold coins for red noses. We had a visit from Tiff McLeod and her daughters. Tiff is a Cure Kids ambassador and has first hand experience of the good work Cure Kids does - her daughter, Eva, has a life-threatening condition. It is important for Tiff to show children they can make the world a better place.
